Stay tuned for Winter 2016 workshop calendar!
Welcome to San Francisco Folk Collective!
The San Francisco Folk Collective is a grass-roots folk music collective offering lessons, classes, concerts and workshops at our studio at our small folk music sanctuary holding firm roots on Church Street, one of the main arteries of San Francisco with events all around the Bay Area.
At San Francisco Folk collective we try to preserve the rich musical history of the San Francisco Bay area and inspire young and old to learn the traditional, acoustic styles of American folk music. In our mind 'folk music' is a broad term and we incorporate an array of musical styles including bluegrass, old-time and Americana as well as rock, jazz and blues.
We seek to support local musicians and artists, and to connect with audiences and communities in meaningful ways, building on the rich musical and cultural history of the San Francisco Bay Area, and enriching our lives with more acoustic folk music and art through education and entertainment.
SF Folk Collective Workshops and Concerts
We are currently hosting monthly acoustic concerts, a variety show at the Hellman Barn in Petaluma, as well as a one-day festival through our collective action called the Sonoma Mountain Music Festival. We focus on putting together events at unique locations, bringing together artists that contribute to our community with considerate and attentive audiences. Our locations have included San Francisco Folk Collective located at Little Folkies Studio in San Francisco, The Hellman Barn in Petaluma, and the Gospel Flat Farmstand in Bolinas.
Want to get involved with the San Francisco Folk Collective?
Our focus is to help build a supportive music and arts community throughout the bay. If you are interested in helping to contribute to that community, come to one of our events and introduce yourself! You can help us put together more events, expand our online presence, create poster artwork or video/photograph our events, volunteer at events, etc. Email us at email@example.com or contact us through facebook.
Want to teach a class, offer a workshop or perform at the San Francisco Folk Collective?
Teachers set their own rates, and take payments individually. Classes are advertised on our website, through Little Folkies, and at our studio in San Francisco. We print a calendar, posters and promote events on facebook, and teachers also promote on their own.
